Many Internet Marketers and Home Business Owners fail to see the opportunities that resale rights, master resale rights and public domain content present.

Ownership of resale rights to books, software, audio content and even posters in the public domain with proper marketing principles put in place can be a lucrative business.

One of the great things about Resale rights ownership is that one hundred percent of every sale of every product that you make goes directly to you.

There are no ongoing costs and once you have your site set up there is no
ongoing maintainance.

There are several different phrases and terms that you should be aware of
when assessing a business opportunity with resell rights.

Resale Rights

Private Label Rights (PLR)
Resale rights and master resale rights, are in some respects restrictive as you are not allowed to edit the product in any way There can also be some restrictions on pricing and distribution (you may not be able to sell the products on eBay for example)

Private label rights, as the name implies, give you a lot more freedom.

Effectively you can re-badge (re-label) the product to present it as your own work
Private Label rights can be purchased for articles, reports, ebooks or any other type of content. Typically you will need to be a little creative with this type of content and will need to pull together sales copy and your own website to take advantage of this type of product.

Public Domain Content

Your rights to content that is in the Public Domain are very similar to Private Label Rights. With both of these types of rights you can basically re-work the content/source and use it to create an entirely new product  or simply publish it as your own.

In the US ,anything published from 1923-1963 may be in the public domain if the copyright has not been renewed. As copyright has lapsed, you may be ableto copy it or republish it  even for commercial use.

Legitimate Home Business opportunities come in many shapes and forms, so when I received an email last week from Nick Oba, the developer and former owner of a unique article content site called Qondio (started life as Qassia) promising to release a new program aimed at people looking to make money from home, I was intrigued.

Qondio is one of my favorite sites, providing me back links to my websites every time I provide short pieces of "intel" on any subject.  It has a proven track record and an active community of writers, it is not however, a business opportunity, but rather a means of generating traffic.

So my interest was pricked pretty much straight away when Nick alerted me to his new program which he  tentatively called Locust Swarm (promising that the program would generate so much interest that people would be swarming like locusts all over it)

Today I got the opportunity to join and I have to say that I am very impressed with this.

Fortitude in some respects, has been produced as a response to the content factories designed to capture search engine traffic without actually providing quality articles.  Think programs like Constant Content, Demand Studios and Associated Content which pay writers to produce short largely meaningless articles that are keyword rich but do nothing to enrich, or empower the reader (or for that matter make them think)

Let's consider what Fortitude is doing.

It is charging a very small fee for full membership ($23.98 for 12 months membership) which allows you to submit articles, review content  etcetera.

This fee will pay for any referral fees and leave some cash over for running costs.

Additionally, Fortitude will sell advertising to interested parties.  I have reviewed there advertising pages within the membership area and they are aiming at high ticket advertisers.  Ultimately, as with all magazines and publications – they will stand or fall on their ability to generate advertising revenue -hence their willingness to pay for quality well written articles.  

My Verdict

Nothing is certain in the world of online publishing.  Fortitude Magazine is a bold attempt to create a legitimate online business that gives a legitimate business opportunity to opportunity seekers while trying to create a quality publication. 

As with any program there is a risk of failure, however, this is based on a sound business model, has an owner/developer with a proven track record and makes good business sense.

The risks are minimal ($24 per year) and the potential earnings either by contributing content or by referring others to the program could be quite lucrative.

Home business opportunities present themselves almost everyday – too often the prospective home business entrepreneur doesn’t see the wood for the trees and by the time they realize that there is money to be made, the big dogs and the astute have already staked their claim and positioned themselves to be in the right place at the right time.

By the time most of us start thinking of Halloween as a business opportunity(and to be frank being Australian, I don’t really think of it at all), there are already very professional highly ranked search engine friendly websites positioned on the first page of Google for all the appropriate keywords.
Generally at his time green entrepreneurs will be bombarded with lots of Halloween graphics and pre made sites that are designed with one thing in mind – to seperate the hopeful opportunity seeker from his hard earned cash.

Home business opportunities are presented in any many forms online, many with much hyperbole, great sales copy, alluring screen shots of Clickbank accounts and the obligatory pictures of fast cars, sandy beaches and pretty girls in bikinis.

(I have a friend who says he can measure a sites scam level by the number of pictures of Big Houses fast cars and pretty girls – if a site has all three he says it's a dead set scam – you might like to remember that measurement when you're looking around)

Before you part with your hard earned cash getting in on the latest "hot" home business opportunity, you need to ask yourself some very important questions.
 

1. What exactly is the business opportunity advertised?
2. Do you have the necessary skills and experience to profit from the business opportunity or are you going to be reliant upon training from the program
3. How much money are you prepared to spend on advertising the business opportunity
4. Can you work the business opportunity into your existing online sales funnel or do you need to start from scratch with it?
5. Who are the business opportunity owners, where do they live and what is their current online reputation.

In short, take a deep breath and really analyze what is on offer – is it training to build and grow your own business? or is it part of some mythical forced matrix or money power line that is almost certainly illegal.

There are great business opportunities online – and not everything will be a good fit for everyone to succeed with any business opportunity you need to find something that fits your own profile and knowledge base – if for example you play guitar you may be able to develop a website about guitar playing and work in affiliate links and a newsletter with products like Jamorama (a Clickbank product).

On the other hand, you may be an instinctive team builder and networker and MLM business opportunities may appeal to you, then do some research get involved in social media and start the process of building your business  with reasonable expactations of what can realistically be achieved in the short and medium terms.

The truth is that here is a business opportunity that fits your personality, your experience and your goals.  The flip side of this is that there are literally hundreds of alleged business opportunities that are designed with one thing in mind – to seperate you from your cash.

To succeed in this business you need to undertake some basic training in specific fields, you need to set reasonable goals and you need to work consistently and diligently towards those goals.  No amount of hype or pictures of pretty girls and fast cars should ever distract you from the truth.

Legitimate Home businesses take time effort and there is some learning involved.

There is no magic bullet or secret button to push.

You just have to do the hard yards and the hard yards aren't really that hard – learn how to blog, learn HTML, learn SEO, start building a contact list and recommend quality products and services.

There are literally hundreds of tracking devices and hit counters online.  I've used many, and to be perfectly honest, I haven't been completely satisfied with any – ultimately because I want to track my entire process.  I wantto know click through rates on splash pages, squeeze page conversion rates, search engine, traffic direct traffic, affiliate traffic.  I want to know everything – the more I know, the more I can tweak and adjust things to deliver a better overall result for me.
Traditional adtrackers are by their very nature laborious.  I've tried many different ones and I'm never been really happy with posting cloaked tracking links and because I create loads of different pages and content I simply don't have the time to insert tracking links in every page I create.
When I used traditional website setups I found Google Analytics to be a great method of tracking visitors to  and through my sites.
When I switched to WordPress, I found it time consuming and frustrating to have to copy and paste the code into every blog post that I made.
Mark Dulisse came to the rescue by putting me on to a great little Google Analytics plug in that enables me to automate my visitor tracking on my site.

Home business opportunities are just that – opportunities.
What you choose to do with them and how you go about promoting them will ultimately determine your success.
Let’s be clear about this.
There are thousands of online programs promising that they have “unlocked the code”, “do ninety nine percent of the  work for you”, promise you “forced spillover” or some other bald faced lie.
I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but there are no shortcuts in this business. 
To succeed you need to establish yourself as a credible authority in your chosen niche.
There is no need to be alarmed by this.
It just takes a little thought and some determination to be different from  the vast crowd of opportunity seekers out there.  If you can offer quality information and advice to people, you will build a loyal following – a following that will ultimately repay you for your guidance.
Of course, there are some non negotiable assets that you require to build your reputation, your business and your brand.
They are a domain name, web-hosting and an auto-responder and your own genuine experience.
From there it is a relatively easy process to write a short report on a chosen service, technique  or product in your chosen niche and offer it as a free gift to potential subscribers.
“Wait a minute Mark, I can’t do this – I have no credibility, I’ve never made a sale,” I hear you say.
But there are things that you can do – if you have  a will to do it.
You could write a report on how to set up an autoresponder series correctly.
You could write a report on a new emerging social media program that you are aware of just describing the features and benefits – or even a report on automated Twitter income from a program like Twivert .
You could describe how you got 100 Twitter followers in a week or even better how to use Twitter properly
You could write a report on things to avoid like the plague (HYIP, Cyclers, Doublers, the list is endless really.)
You could join a program like Chitika (an Adsense alternative) and target it directly at people who have lost their Adsense accounts
You could write a report on how easy it is to set up a WordPress blog and the plugins you use.
You could write a report and review on a product that you use and like.

This is where you start your business and then you pass on good information, helpful hints and occasional recommendations.  If you do this people will be glad to receive you communications because you are stamping yourself as somebody different from the usual hype driven constant buy buy buy crowd that this industry is made up of.
Brand yourself as a voice of reason.
People will follow you.
But you need to build that relationship by recommending quality products and services.  Steer clear of the hype fueled “business opportunities” that are nothing more than pyramid scams. 
There are good products out there – products that educate , products that are essential tools and products that map out a business plan
Of course you can go a step further and create short videos and post them on you-tube – once you start the ball rolling, you can’t stop it.  In fact this post has given me enough fuel to write 6 posts.
“But Mark, I don’t know how to make my report available or how to make it a PDF document”  These things are learn-able, and easy when you know how.  What’s more once you’ve learned them you can teach them – via a report of course.
And to make matters easier the next post on this site will be instructional on how to do exactly that.
There is no excuse not to go down this road -it is the price of online success and will open many doors, the question is are you prepared to pay the price or are you willing to accept  a program owner’s word that their program will do it all for you.

O.K.  I confess I'm no Twitter guru but it is an intriguing medium and presents a raft of possibilities for Home Business opportunities.
First and foremost, this post was firstly prompted by Tim Linden's post on his blog "Yes I unfollowed you on Twitter". As his wont – Tim made perfect sense and made me think about something I frankly have not paid enough attention to.  That is whose posts I was viewing in Twitter and whose post's I wanted to see.
I was still thinking about his when I watched a great video from Kim Roach about adswapping and how she networked an adswap through Twitter.
Whoa hang on a minute – she negotiated an Adswap through Twitter!
She created a conversation, she followed up in a polite manner and she did a mutually beneficial business deal.
There it is – how to use Twitter responsibly, ethically and profitably in one video talking about something else entirely.  It blew me away.  It is just common sense, but sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees.
Inspired by Kim's video I went back to Twitter with the intention of creating some real conversations and I was instantly hit by the drivel coming from some of the people I was following.  One person would make a post every five minutes stating exactly the same thing (obvious bot), another "professional marketer" made12 posts in the space of about 3 minutes – all of which contained an affiliate link, another bot informed me of bargains to be had shopping at discount stores in America.
Who are these people and how on earth did I end up following them?
I think I know how – it is considered wise to follow people who follow you – the more you appear on peoples lists the more likely you are to be "followed" by their followers.  This may be OK if you are working in a specific niche- like Guitar lessons or fishing, but when you are working in a field as large and varied as Internet Marketing, you attract all the Tweet bots aimed at getting you to follow their owners.
It boils down to this, as it always does, Internet Marketing is a people business.  No amount of automation and technology can replace the connection between two like minded people or between a person with a genuine need and somebody else with a genuine solution.
Used in the right fashion ala the Kim Roach method, Twitter can be a powerful networking tool, but misused and it is just another way of marking you as unprofessional.  Spam is spam no matter what the medium.
I've already started un-following people I can see no obvious connection with, I suggest that you do the same.
Start using Twitter to create Home Business opportunities, not blast the message out to people who don't care.

MLM – multi level marketing is a misunderstood and misused business opportunity that when implemented correctly with real products can result in genuine high levels of marketing.

Typically a MLM Home Business Opportunity will these days be largely online based and care and due diligence need to be exercised before committing to such a scheme.

In theory MLM Home business opportunities should be easier because in theory you have committed multi levels of affiliates all selling a product that not only earns them a commission, but also earns their upline a commission. This is best explained by referring you to a typical MLM matrix used by a reputable on line business – Traffic Wave and their payment plan

Ideally as you recruit members into your organization, you need to train them to use the tools that the organization provides AND train them on how to recruit new members in to the organization.

This is almost impossible for somebody new to online marketing, unless somebody provides training systems, back up and support that allows you to concentrate on recruiting new members (and to be fair and frank somebody new to the business needs to learn the correct recruitment methods as well.

This is not to say that there is not money to be made from MLM home business opportunities – the reverse applies , but it is only reasonable to give you an honest assessment of what to expect. 

MLM business opportunities do not grow overnight.

They require constant attention, great networking skills, patience and hard work.

Having said that, I do think that a program like Traffic wave should be part of an online marketers arsenal.  Traffic Wave provides a must have quality marketing tool at an extremely affordable price (an autoresponder) and as it is nigh on impossible to do any form of online business without using an autoresponder to follow up prospects and leads.

Most Home Business Opportunities expect you to pay reasonable sums of money to buy in in to the opportunity.  Predictably the odds are stacked against the average Home based business owner from the start.
Most home based business opportunities expect/train  you to promote their business opportunity pages everywhere.  Effectively they use the promoter as a cheap form of advertising, “helping them” with pre written advertisements and cookie cutter website templates that they give everybody else.  They then have the power of mass advertising to brand their product.

Most program members/affiliates or “independent representatives are left to desperately scramble for the odd sale while the “business opportunity” owners kick back and watch the cash roll in.

The lie is told and sold everyday.

“We do 99% of the work for you all you have to do is promote.”

It just doesn’t work.

Not for the little guy.

It’s been irking me for a long time, so I’ve been working on a program that really does give the little guy a real business opportunity.

The program will teach people to develop their own truly independent website that they can change to their own needs as circumstances permit and it will actually cost nothing to be a member of.

Yes there will be some recommended purchases, but these are necessary must have tools that make home Business possible.
